Terms & Agreements

  • Attendance

This is a participatory cohort. For optimal individual and group experience, I strongly suggest registrants attend sessions live. Recordings will be available, but much of what makes this work effective are our interactions, conversations, and playtime together.

Please note in the starting survey if you are aware of dates you won’t be able to come. If circumstances arise that prevent you from coming to some or all sessions once the course has begun, please email me as possible.

Capacities fluctuate, we live in bodies with varying challenges and needs, and life happens. Participants commit to non-judgement in meeting one another as human beings where we are on any given day.

If an emergency comes up for me as a facilitator and I need to cancel a session, I will email ASAP and the session will be rescheduled.

  • Outcomes & Personal Responsibility

This is a collective practice space. While you may experience opening, growth, or transformation within this group, I am not a therapist and this is not therapy.

While I intend to support you as a facilitator and coach, I cannot guarantee you any particular outcome from this course due to the variable nature of individual and group participation and engagement.

What you choose to practice, decline, participate in, and engage with during and between sessions will affect your experience. You are responsible for discerning and acting on your own needs, desires, limits, and boundaries in all group spaces and between sessions.

  • Confidentiality

Participants agree to honor and respect what is personally shared in the space as confidential. Lessons learned may be cross-pollinated freely, but we don’t share names or tell others’ stories without explicit permission from the person.

  • Accessibility & Consent

Throughout our sessions, I’ll encourage you to notice and honor your yes, no, & maybe by tuning into your body data, knowledge, and wisdom regarding your needs and capacity to participate. Any activity I offer is an invitation predicated on your consent. Your camera may be on or off throughout the session.

Multiple options for how to participate in activities will be given as often as possible to support varied physical & neurodiverse access needs, though you are always welcome to take “the essence of the prompt” and adapt it to your needs better than I knew how! You may choose in some circumstances to witness others rather than directly participating.

“Before sharing any potentially triggering information or art, we ask that you give a content warning and allow a few beats for folks to turn their volume down and do whatever is necessary to take care of themselves.” (taken from Kinetic Light LAB)

“Our community is built on a wide diversity of body-minds. For some, [sharing] about trauma, politics, or identity might be energizing, stimulating, or grounding. For others, the very same conversation can be destabilizing, triggering, or exhausting. Access means acknowledging that difference and building a structure flexible enough to hold it. Content notices are one of the tools that allow us to do this.” (taken from CripCreate & Content Notices)

Zoom closed captioning will be enabled at every session. ASL is not currently provided for this course.

Please ask for support from me, any activity-mates, and your cohort as you need it! Clarifying questions are warmly encouraged.

  • Safer Space, Brave Space, Wounded World, Imperfect Humans

Conflict is not abuse

This space recognizes the realities of systemic oppression including colonialism, all ethno-nationalisms (including Zionism), racism, ableism, classism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, transmisogyny, anti-semitism, Islamophobia, & xenophobia.

Acknowledging that many live in the overlap of multiple oppressed identity-markers, privileged ones, or a combo of both, we endeavor to enter this space with respect for self, other, & learning from difference.

We strive to practice self-awareness, anti-oppression, & self-accountability, accepting we may make mistakes, disagree, or have conflicts come up. If/when this happens, I encourage you to practice slowwwwing downnnn. Notice any reactive impulses you have in the moment. Check if you’re grounded & present. When in doubt, ask to pause or step away from the group or interaction to care for yourself. We are not going to exile each other for fumbling.

As much as possible, please listen & speak with courage, humility, & without blaming or shaming yourself or others. Own the impacts, however unintended, your words or actions can have on others. Remember discomfort is not the same as being unsafe. We all have a part to play in making this a safer space, in the context of a world where safety is not an equally experienced condition or given for all.

Unacceptable behavior

There is a zero-tolerance policy for hate speech, harassment, discriminatory or abusive language, targeted hostility, or any kind of violent behavior. If this happens in the main group, Leroy has the right to remove the person responsible from the session swiftly to promote the safety of the space.

If you experience or witness any of the above from someone outside the main space (e.g. in a “breakout room,” by direct message over Zoom, or in the Telegram chat), please inform me as soon as possible so I can address it with appropriate action.

  • Photo & Video Release

Each Zoom session will be recorded. Recordings are not to be shared with others not in group. If you do not want your video to be recorded, you may turn your camera off while speaking. Recording will stop during connection room activities. The secret word for the starting survey is kookaburra. Recordings will be sent to participants within 3 days of the live session, to the best of my abilities.

During or after the course, I may use screenshots or video clips from the recordings to promote my work on my website or social media. Please indicate in the starting survey if you do not consent to your image, video, or voice being used in this way.

  • Refunds & Payments

If you choose to withdraw your registration between enrollment and the start of the program, I will refund 90% of your enrollment rate.

If you attend the first session and assess afterwards that this group is not a good fit, I can offer a 60% refund. This will only apply if you attend the session live.

No refunds will be available after the second session. Exceptions to this due to unforeseen life circumstances mid-group may be considered at Leroy’s discretion but cannot be guaranteed.

If you are asked to leave due to inability to meet group agreements, you will not be eligible for a refund.

InterPlay Community Practices

We all get to show up as we are

However we show up—-mind, heart, body, and spirit-—is plenty. We welcome the whole of our gifts and abilities, alongside our limitations and growing edges. What we offer of ourselves in play is always welcomed and enough.

We welcome and respect all stories, dances, and songs equally

We show up in our truth, open to hearing other’s truth, and we hold that multiple truths can exist alongside one another. We celebrate our uniqueness and diversity of experience. We honor that others’ stories are not ours to tell. We can ask that our particular stories be held in confidence when we choose.

We make space, take space

We strive to create space for everyone. Sometimes that requires us to step up and other times to step back. We want to be aware of voices that have been historically or systemically ignored and practice centering these voices.

We speak from our own experience

We use “I” rather than “we” statements, trying not to generalize our own experience to that of others. It also gives us more direct access to our own unique experience.

We practice embracing uncertainty and discomfort

We know that discomfort and growth dance hand-to-hand. We accept that “our way” may not be the “best” or “only” way. We try to listen with curiosity and wonder rather than judgment. We use “yes and” language as a way to co-create our way together.

We value interconnectedness

We understand that connections with others are crucial to our health and well-being, so we move boldly toward community. We also understand that sometimes connections weaken or rupture and need strengthening or repair. We also seek to acknowledge impact and address it with care and compassion. We can say “ouch” and we can say “sorry.”

We look for the good

We practice affirming each other. We assume best intentions.
